Guitar Black
In the first half of 1980, Bon Scott, lead singer of AC / DC, spent a night which led to his fatal alcohol poisoning disappearance. This incident was a shock to his bandmates. They had been doing very well after release of "Highway to Hell". After this unfortunate accident, the band came to a crossroads on whether to continue or not.
He had to follow?
Absolutely! In any case, the decision to continue was beyond any doubt, the best ever made! Young Brothers Screamer ex-Geordie Brian Johnson as the replacement and created his masterpiece "In Black" as tribute to their fallen comrade.
First time I heard AC / DC, when the horror movie "Maximum Overdrive", a version of the Stephen King short story, "Trucks" was shown in 1987. To promote the film, local radio stations gave considerable airplay for his song anthem "You Shook Me All Night Long", which was included in the soundtrack of the film. Man! After hearing this song that kept playing in my head again and again. Moreover, the image of Angus Young strutting the Lysefjorden and lead guitar in the video gave me a lasting impression. What attracted me most was as the solid rhythm section of Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd rest laid the groundwork for Brian Johnson to deliver his harsh, gut-wrenching voice.
Once I was captivated by this song, I began to want more. That desire led me to the "Back in Black" album, which is one of the biggest selling album of all time. Fortunately, it turned out the other songs are not dumb compared to "You Shook Me …". The track of the album is undoubtedly one of my Favorite. His riff seemingly basic EDA gets my adrenaline at the right (or left) stepping on the feet and head nodding rhythm. Too bad that was covered by Celine Dion, it is surprising that even she was captivated by the song. Could A rocking chair on the inside than the outside of the marshmallow cheesy?
Oh, God! Why am I talking about, even the musical preferences of Celine Dion!
"Shoot to Thrill" is another gem. If you had seen the film Jack Black's "School of Rock", you might have heard that the pre-main part of this song is very similar to the song written by 10-year film guitar prodigy Zach Mooneyham. My other favorite songs are "Have A Drink On Me" and the declaration of Rock "Rock N 'Roll Is not Noise Pollution". All AC / DC songs are completely jam-worthy, but I am guilty of not giving more time to learn enough songs. I know the whole "You Shook Me .. "but still, I want to play along with the entire album.
One thing I noticed though. The riffs of the songs may sound very simple and basic, but there is something these kids have in their music. That gives them a bit more than your average hard rock band. Whatever "it" is, is something that makes AC / DC special.
